Makati City runs its own version of number coding. It is stricter than the rest of Metro Manila. Here is what every driver needs to know.
No Window Hours in Makati
On your coding day, coded vehicles are banned from Makati roads from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with no midday window. This is the key difference from most Metro Manila roads, where coded vehicles may travel during window hours from 10:01 AM to 4:59 PM.
In other words: if your plate is coded on a given day, plan to stay out of Makati for the entire daytime period, or leave your car behind and take another option.
Senior Citizen Exemption
Makati senior residents with a valid Blue Card are exempt from the coding scheme, whether they are driving the vehicle themselves or riding as a passenger. Make sure the Blue Card is valid and that the senior resident is actually in the vehicle when passing through Makati on a coding day.
Practical Tip: Plan Around the Full-Day Ban
If your coding day errands take you through Makati, do them on a different day or park outside the city and switch to public transport. Coding is suspended on weekends and public holidays, so those days are safe everywhere.
