EDSA follows the standard MMDA number coding scheme (UVVRP) — the same schedule, coding hours, and window hours as most Metro Manila roads. If you drive the whole length of EDSA, here is exactly how coding applies to you.
EDSA Coding Schedule
| Day | Plate numbers ending in |
|---|---|
| Monday | 1 and 2 |
| Tuesday | 3 and 4 |
| Wednesday | 5 and 6 |
| Thursday | 7 and 8 |
| Friday | 9 and 0 |
| Saturday and Sunday | No coding |
Coding Hours and Window Hours on EDSA
Coding is enforced on EDSA from 7:00–10:00 AM and 5:00–8:00 PM, Monday to Friday. Between 10:01 AM and 4:59 PM, coded vehicles may use EDSA during the standard window hours.
Practical Tips for EDSA Commuters
- Leave before 7:00 AM or after 10:00 AM to miss the morning coding window entirely.
- Keep right and clear of the EDSA busway lanes — the exclusive bus lanes are off-limits to private vehicles at all times.
- Plan around the evening coding hours (5:00–8:00 PM); if your coding day falls on a weekday, schedule EDSA trips for the 10:01 AM–4:59 PM window.
- Check traffic advisories before leaving — EDSA congestion does not pause for coding hours.
A Note on EDSA Proposals
From time to time, officials float proposals to change how EDSA coding works — including odd-even scheme ideas. We cannot confirm whether any such proposal is currently in effect, so verify the latest rules on the MMDA’s official channels before planning around them.
